Description
There is always something new to discover in the works of the Berlin composer Emilie Mayer (1812–1883). Our four KHO string players combine her Quartet in E minor, which ‘effectively reflects Emilie Mayer’s compositional style in the 1850s’, with Felix Mendelssohn’s last completed work.
The String Quartet in F minor is one of his outstanding compositions, which he wrote in 1847 – the year of his own death – whilst reeling from the unexpected death of his beloved sister Fanny. With this work, Felix created a moving musical tribute to their sibling bond.
