Claudio Monteverdi is regarded as the first great opera composer in music history. But not only that: he also broke new ground with his sacred vocal music at the beginning of the 17th century. What makes his music so special? He was able to express the entire range of human emotions: love, hate, joy, sorrow, anger, humility and much more.
