Berliner Philharmoniker at Kammermusiksaal
Kent Nagano (instead of Christian Thielemann) conducts the Karajan Academy
Concert
Herbert-von-Karajan-Str. 1, 10785 Berlin

Description
Change of program: Kent Nagano conducts instead of Christian Thielemann.
The 20th century offered composers endless possibilities, and the Karajan Academy's concert shows that the sounds and concepts of this era also unfold their full effect in smaller ensembles. Here, the elegantly sparkling Tombeau de Couperin by Maurice Ravel contrasts with the expressive urgency in Gustav Mahler's Rückert Lieder. Paul Hindemith's Chamber Music No. 1 shows yet other facets, blithely mixing tradition with jazz and dance music. And Sergei Prokofiev also offers a good-humoured mix of old and new art in his Symphonie classique.
