Description
In 1885, Antonin Dvořák completed his 7th Symphony commissioned by the London Philharmonic Society. As a work of noticeable seriousness and primarily dark coloring, it also repeatedly has brightenings, light and delicate passages and a powerful, dynamic forward thrust. At the end of the 1930s, shortly before his emigration from his Hungarian homeland, Béla Bartók composed a three-movement violin concerto which, in contrast to his early work from around three decades earlier, shows his fully developed individual style - with undisguised expressivity and energetic access.
