Description
Like most Baroque composers, Johann Sebastian Bach was never opposed to adapting his works to the performance practice of the day. In the 1730s, he embarked on writing new versions of several of his solo concertos for harpsichord—a relatively novel idea at a time when the instrument had long been considered part of the accompaniment. Leading an ensemble of chamber musicians, Kristian Bezuidenhout performs a selection of these works, alongside a harpsichord version of the famous and frequently adapted D-minor Chaconne.
