Description

Mozart probably wrote his last four violin concertos in quick succession in 1775, when he was 19 years old, for his own performances. The penultimate concerto is on the program. The soloist is Inmo Yang, who studied in his native Korea, Boston, Berlin, and at the Kronberg Academy. The winner of two famous competitions, namely the Premio Paganini Competition in Genoa and the Sibelius Competition for Violin in Helsinki, plays the Cremonese master violin “Carrodus” by Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù, built in 1743, on loan from a member of the Stretton Society.

Felix Mendelssohn was only 15 years old when, in 1824, after 12 string symphonies, he wrote his first symphony for a full orchestra with woodwinds, brass, and timpani. Ten years and several more symphonies later, he was no longer happy that it was officially considered his “First,” “as it does not fit in with my current works.” But it was and remains in the world and accompanies you through the weekend today with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin under Fabio Biondi.
