Description
LIB
Piece by Alexander Ekman
Alexander Ekman is known for his fast-paced, humorous works, whose wit he effectively stages. It is important to him to find themes with which a majority of his contemporaries can identify, which both entertain and question the audience. Since 2006, he has devoted himself to choreographing and is in demand worldwide. A guest for the first time at the Staatballett Berlin in 2019, he developed a world premiere for the company's first soloists and a male solo dancer. Fascinated for some time by the creations of hair artist Charlie Le Mindu, especially his Chewbacca costumes that fully wrap their wearers in long hair, Alexander Ekman collaborated with him for the first time. His piece LIB (in reference to 'liberation') would not be a work by Alexander Ekman if it did not have a humorous and bizarre touch.
STRONG
Piece by Sharon Eyal
Music by Ori Lichtik
Sharon Eyal's choreographies can be described as vibrating experiments on the border between precision and supposed excess, which strike a nerve with audiences and dancers alike. The uncompromising Israeli choreographer has long since found a very personal, unmistakable artistic signature, was not only engaged by the house of Dior to design one of the latest fashion shows, but is increasingly conquering the European dance stages. She has personally explored the emotional authenticity required to interpret her pieces with the dancers of the Staatsballett in a creation for Berlin.
