Matthias Pintscher leads the first of three programs by the Boulez Ensemble this season, featuring works for solo instrument and ensemble that interpret the concert principle in very different ways. Olga Neuwirth's ...miramondo multiplo... explores “cooperation, democratization, and close listening” between the individual and the group. As in the 2006 premiere conducted by Pierre Boulez, the solo part is performed by the acclaimed Swedish trumpeter Håkan Hardenberger. In Hans Werner Henze's 1981 Le Miracle de la rose, on the other hand, clarinetist Boglárka Pecze becomes the protagonist of an "imaginary theater" inspired Jean Genet's eponymous novel.
