Organ matinee with Jean-Baptiste Dupont

Description
From Bach to Ligeti, from melodically and rhythmically structured movements to overwhelming sounds – Jean-Baptiste Dupont, titular organist at Bordeaux Cathedral, leads us through a broad spectrum of organ music in this matinee, including three movements from Igor Stravinsky’s ballet “Petrushka” arranged for organ. Ligeti, whose music is at the centre of the Biennale, set new sonic and technical standards in 1962 with his piece Volumina. Today, the work is considered a classic of Modernism. Jean-Baptiste Dupont will also demonstrate his skills as an improviser at the Philharmonie Berlin organ.
