Description
The music of Ludwig van Beethoven has long played a major role in the repertoire of the Belcea Quartet, which has been closely associated with the Pierre Boulez Saal since the hall’s opening. The ensemble’s concert cycle in celebration of the composer’s 250th birthday in 2020 remained incomplete due to the pandemic.
Now the four musicians make up for lost opportunities, commemorating the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s death in 2027: on six Sundays between October and April, they perform all 16 of his string quartets, with each program combining early, mid-period, and late works.
