Few artists are as intimately familiar with the music of Pierre Boulez as Michael Wendeberg, who worked closely with the composer for several years as pianist of the Ensemble intercontemporain. In honor of the Boulez centenary, Wendeberg performs his complete piano works, offering a fascinating overview of this visionary artist’s creative development—from the 20-year-old’s Douze Notations to the groundbreaking Second Piano Sonata, to Incises from the 1990s. A recently published fragment from the unfinished Third Piano Sonata completes the program.
