Description
“The Fantastic” – this season’s theme for the chamber concerts in the Apollosaal – takes its inspiration from the first opera premiere of the season, Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann. Members of the Staatskapelle Berlin have created programs that explore this idea and concept in various ways, both of which play a central role in music.
Spanning from the Baroque to the present day, with a special focus on the Romantic era and on figures such as Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms, and the multifaceted E.T.A. Hoffmann (who became the idealized title character in Offenbach’s opera), “The Fantastic” will be illuminated through a wide range of chamber music works in diverse instrumentations.
